In this piece I talk about how I fell into the trap of constantly “trying” while thinking I was “doing.” As entrepreneurs, we tend to think we just need more info, more training, more data before we can get it done. This is a trap. The trap of trying. “Trying” is just really a way to describe not having a commitment, not focusing enough, not having the deep internal “will” to do something. Not being honest or having integrity. Usually over thinking. Being negative. Being too theoretical. Putting too much energy into hypotheticals. And living too much in the future. When you are “trying” you are essentially telling yourself, I will attempt this but I don’t think its going to work but I’m not sure and in the future its probably not going to be complete. Im just saying I am going to put myself in this state of noncompletion. Just do it man! Don’t self-sabotage before you even get started. “Trying is essentially pre-framing and influencing the outcome and pushing energy into half-ass mode.” So, how to transition from this? Be in a state of just doing and not assessing the progress which is essentially trying. By constantly assessing and deploying states of progress is essentially ego. Its all negative and driven by fear and hidden by lack. Its all masked by fear. Heal those fear wounds with love. Then the vocabulary changes into doing. Put imperfect action into motion this is role for entrepreneurs and the journey for empowerment.
